Non-Intel SSD's lack appeal I guess. Plus there's the whole SLC vs. MLC topic, and the JMicron controller issue.
In any case, I figured I'd report a thumbs up on the new RAID 0 setup. For under $300 bills, I have 120GB of SSD RAID 0 goodness.
They're Super Talent Masterdrive OX 64GB. Write speeds are bearable, and read speeds are instant. I had texture load hitches while gaming using a Raptor, it's smooth sailing now.
Certainly some downsides to buying MLC based SSD's right now, especially the longevity factor. But with wear leveling and plenty of free space, I'm hoping these in RAID 0 will do nicely. After a fresh Vista 64 install, I have plenty of free space for wear leveling.
I too want to see better/cheaper SSD's emerge over the next year, but this will do for now!
