few home wireless questions

So, I set up the new PC with the Netgear 'n' Router on Comcast cable modem and D-link 'n' adapter.

I notice in the browser sometimes it seems to go into an endless loop until I hit refresh. Is that something to be expected? How much? What can I do to eliminate it?

(This is an AMD 965 with SSD-only, so it's not a slow computer issue).

Is there a recommended method for monitoring the network for overall speed and such 'hangs'? And how can I get info whether it's performing as it should or has a problem?

Some things to try for troubleshooting:

Connect your computer with an ethernet cable directly to the cable modem to see if you have the same problem. If you have trouble when wired directly to the modem, then you'll probably need to call Comcast. You can also try connecting directly to the wireless router using an ethernet cable (not wireless) to see if it's an issue with wireless interference.

If the connection works when wired, but not when wireless, change the channel on the wireless router to a channel that is not being used by something else in your area. To find an open/less used channel, use WirelessNetView.

You can not use a browser as an indicator to a network work and performance.

What you described can be a Browser problem, or a Local network Problem, or trouble over the interent that is beyond your control.

There are tools to evaluate LAN performance and you can you them to take care of your Network and its performance.

Thanks. Forgot to ask - I have a PS3 and the PC on the same router, I normally leave the PS3 on 24x7, does that cause a performaqnce hit with any idle network activity? What tools to test the PC?
