can anyone explain why, in the minds of some here, the Ford Recall generates such a response and the Ferrari recall almost none?

is it acceptable for ferrari to issue a recall and unacceptable for Ford to do so?
At the same time, whose fault is it that Ford's earned a rep for fault-ridden products? It's their own fault.

The stigma might not be fair and akin to fighting an uphill battle, but they made their bed.

BS, Look at JD Powers, Year after Year there are many manufacturers that worse than Ford.

i'll take JD powers word over the kind of stupidity that i read on a forum to judge a car manufacturers quality control.

fact is, fords are not NEARLY as bad as most of you antiamericans make them out to be. matter of fact many years in the mid to late 90's fords were better quality wise than Nissans.

Well that reputation has to come from somewhere over the years, and its definitely not from "anti-americans" in any forum, let alone the clueless idiots here who only go by popular opinion to fit in. I wouldn't worry about their opinion at all if I were you.
It's called herd mentality.

We discount evidence that is counter to our beliefs and add emphasis to anything that proves us right. That is human nature.

Domestics are fighting this right now, but it is no different than what foreign manufacturers had to go through 30 years ago.

I can only hope it doesn't take 30 years for domestics to overcome the prevailing perception.

what gets me is, in Japan, EVEN when american cars were CLEARLY SUPERIOR to japanese cars, refused to by american cars. they had pride in their own work. i don't see that in america and i don't see it in Korea either. it annoys me just as much when i'm in korea and koreans all covet japanese or american cars.

given a certain price, most of the cars within that group fall within a narrow range of quality. the best to the worst isn't that large a difference. matter of fact the lemons from the highest quality group (say Lexus) are worse than the well made cars from the lowest quality group (say VW for eg. 😉 )

the burden of proof was on fords side - they were trying to show off to ferrari, not the other way around. Ferrraris aren't know for reliability or cheap maintenance... you must be thinking honda.

Either way you're missing the point. If you buy a ferrari, you make a statement about yourself. If you buy a ford...you buy a ford.

A Ford GT isn't just about a Ford imo. It has class and heritage and the guy that said Ferrari buyers have more class? wtf?! Usually more money then a Ford buyer but that isn't everything.

If you got enough money to buy a Ferrari buy it. If a Ford GT buy it! Someday I'll hopefully buy one 😛

But yeah seriously if you have $300k to spend on a car, you can pretty dam well bet you have another car, or at least another 2 cars to drive about if your one needs a recall. And if you just sold your house to get that $300k your FVCKING MAD! 😛
