Michael takes it easy the first couple of laps... then the car screams as usual by the end of the vid.

First F1 race is less than a month away... :)

I'm confused. I heard that Ferrari will use another F1 car later on in the season. Not this currrent F2004 which they just released.

Am I right? Or wrong?

No final report on that yet... theyve been doing that the past two years though... using last years car for the first 1-3 races to make sure this years car is reliable enough. But the rule changes this year means they need to make sure the new car is really reliable... :)

A solo run on the track looks so lonely, sounds great though.

Only 50% of the vid is race car.

Question for BR: Where did Enzo"steal"the prancing stallion shield from ?
Answer later today, if you don't know :)

Boo Ferrari!! :D
It's true what they say, there's F1 fans, and then there's Ferrari fans. Just kidding.

Hopefully the 'Stones suck this year again, that's the only way it made the championship exciting.

He stole it?

I thought it was from an italian pilot's parents that offered it to enzo... lol... i guess you could say he stole it considering the value that emblem alone can put on a car and the money he made off it... :D

first time out for the brand new car... nothing has been run on a track... the engine has been on the bench but the car has practically 0 miles... so the first lap i believe was an installation lap... he did that a couple of times actually... 1 lap out in then comes back in for everyone to check on the car... but he went all out on the second day though... breaking the lap record at the track. :)

Can't wait until the day the engine makes more power than the braking system does (negative power). :D

He borrowed the stallion without permission it was only later that the mother of the WW1 pilot gave her consent. It was after the fact.

Francesco Baracca was KIA near the end of the hostilities of WW1.
The stallion was part of his families coat of arms. The only real difference is the tail is flying in a down position rather than up. He had it on both sides of his bi-plane 24"tall. :)

:Q I need to hang out in off-topic more often, thanks for the video!

About the different cars, what I've been reading says that the car that runs in Melbourne will have totally different front (and I think rear) wings, they just weren't ready for the launch of the car, but they wanted to get the rest of it running for reliability testing, etc. If the ones on there now look familiar, its because they're basically the same ones that they used in Suzuka last year.

oh wow... didnt know that... i guess they didnt want to make the old man look bad so they just said he was presented with the logo... :Q

All ive read either say he got that sign to honor the pilot...OR... the parents were so impressed by Enzo's driving that they chose to represent their son through him.

The front wings on the current F2004 are different already....

F2004 and F2003GA

The rear wing on the other hand... they were testing an unpainted one at Fiorano... but who knows maybe more bits will change. Can't wait for the first race. :D

Can someone update me on the 04 engine rules concerning the race weekend? Is it ONE engine for the entire weekend, including qualifing?

Yes. If it blows up and the team must replace it... you will be be dropped down 10 grid spots from where you qualified from. Dumb rule eh. Oh well... it didn't affect the engines much... theyre just as light as last year... and still making as much power. :)

Thanks, that's going to lead to alot of reshuffling on race day I think because alot of teams have engines blown-ups during qualifying. I can't wait til the season begans, this should be the best year in a while though.

Actually, last year they had to race what they qualified right down to the car settings and fuel levels run during qualifying so I don't think it will be too large an adjustment.

Wow, eveyone was there. Ross Braun, Jean Todt, Luca di Montezemolo even Luca Badoer (well, he is the test driver...he at least should be there).
