And it is indeed amusing that you are amused. Also noted that you refer to BSON as "a fud site" and then refer to Charlie, as just "Charlie". Like there is some sort of respect there.
So, I can see why you're amused.

:D

And I find it amusing that you always seem to take any source that paints your focus group overlords in a negative way with a grain of salt but even a single report of the contrary from a source that is just as suspect is enough to contradict half a dozen other sources.

Seriously if everything was going to plan with Fermi it would have been launched months ago. So either they blow their load in the first few weeks and then have nothing left or you see very limited availability as boards are fed slowly to retailers.

So BS news states nvidia will have 40,000 boards. If that number turns into real availability, Nvidia has a major problem. Hell ati was up to 100,000 sold with little available.

No wonder theo is ignored. His logic is as sad as his sources.

Lets hope Nvidia actually releases a working part that doesn't take pr focus to be good.

Well seeing how some of the anti-nV crowd on this board were parroting the 5K at launch, it will be fun to see which way this goes.

No kidding, last I read the specs have been changed and nothing for 10 days after launch.

Oh my God, did I? Damn, I guess I shouldn't have have refered to Theo as just 'Theo' either? You're so nifty *giggles*
Anyway, let's hope Theo is right at least once, would be great for us consumers.
while the limited quantities were confirmed by different and reputable sites during cebit.
Guess why I used the word 'reputable'. Certainly not to describe S|A.

I take it, you are still pissed that I called you out for spreading false information (on purpose as it seems). :D What a gorgeous smile.

Umm, Dark4ng3l my friend. Being in the focus group and all, don't you think that I might have some sort of a clue as to what is FUD and what is not? I know it's a stretch, but try to imagine that. The only truly frustrating bit is that I cannot say what I want to because of the NDA. It'll be worth it though.

Look, try not to provoke me, and I'll do the same for you. Comments like "overlords" are pretty ridiculous and really not necessary. If you have a point to get across, do so without the snide comments if you can.

/peace.

Yes. You did. I'd expect you to say use a fud sit to bash another fud site. But you didn't.
Savvy?

And believe me, I have a lot of reasons to be un-pissed right now. :D

Enjoy it while you can bro.

How many mainstream ($100-$200) cards do these companies actually sell anyway? I know consoles sell 10's of millions over their lifespan but I have met maybe 4 people ever that had gaming class PC's kept up to date with new hardware every few years.

I feel like its... 25 5800's, 10k 5770's and 10 million 5450's...

Maybe some of us should just start an ATI/AMD focus group. We could even have little disclaimers and all. After a few months go by, people will forget it is just some marketing gimmick with the intent to sway random tech forums and we will slowly gain credibility. Hell, maybe ATI/AMD will see that and think someone in marketing set us up and then send us free stuff. Free Bulldozer/6XXX rigs this July anyone?!!?!? The best part is, with our spiffy rigs, when someone says something bad about ATI/AMD upcoming release, we can claim lots of inside knowledge but pout about not being able to share it.

I mean, this seems ideal. Who is with me with this idea? We dont need BSN, Charlie, Keys or anyone else, we can make our own news! People like when that happens right? I mean, I love having conversations about upcoming parts, having a few supposed "insiders" make vague claims about why we are possibly maybe incorrect and then finding out in the end it was all just guesses anyways. People do like that right?!?!?!

So who is with me in the AMD/ATI focus group? I heard AMD is giving away free rigs this July to members, but only to members that have been part of the focus group for at least a year!

That right there is why you should have to have nvidia focus group member put in your title, and emphasized in some way (and not in small text in your sig) so that people are constantly reminded. The bolded parts, to me, due to your position, should not be allowed, as you could very well be intentionally spreading FUD. You're getting awfully closed to overstepping the line, where you're all but sitting there going "I can't say since I'm under NDA, but that could absolutely definitely be true" and then winking. The fact that you're a moderator is just ridiculous.

At the risk of quoting myself, I offer the reason for my above post without the sarcasm:

1. Keys is a member of the focus group. We know that. Get over it. Take it for what its worth to you. I have been a reader of these forums for years, rarely post, but get annoyed with the thread derails about it in EVERY SINGLE POST. WE ALL KNOW! So, just stop agitating about it, take his comments for what they are worth to you, and move on.

2. Keys, my only complaint is that sometimes you pull the "I may know a thing or two since I am a member of the focus group". One example is in this thread, and I have seen it a few other times. Please dont do that, it only flames the people (trolls?) and I do have a personal dislike when people do that. We are all here (most of us anyways) without any special knowledge, and a lot of the fun is in the waiting, debating, theorizing, and arguing about what could be and why. A few people with special knowledge, but who refuse to share it, but use it from time to time in debates really derails the fun of it. Just my opinion IMO

3. Keep up the good work here, but the endless sniping appears to be making a comeback. Didnt the forums just go through a housecleaning recently to get a lid on this stuff. Lets try to keep it civil. Most of us are just guessing anyways, take your personal flame wars to PM's or other boards.

Ive said my piece, back to lurking for a few more years....

Personally, I can't wait for the 26th. Not that I have interest in the card, but just so that all this useless bickering dies down a bit and I might actually be able to read something even slightly insightful. Anyone with even a bit of reason between their ear would see the benefit of a competitive product. The geforce 8 era didn't suck for consumers becuase nvidia is inherently evil, it sucked becuase the card ran unopposed. I'm not going to lie and say I have no bias here, as I'm no fan of nvidia's marketing, feature crippling of TWIMTBP titles and general shady business, a little competition is always a good thing for the market.

My point is that focus group members are chosen specifically because of their bias towards nvidia. Think about it who would you chose to be in your stealth marketing group. I have nothing against you personally but I have everything against the focus group BS. What I will do is point out everything that I find questionable. Fanboys are bad either way and I own several ATi and nVidia cards (and I have owned many 3dfx cards before that) and maybe if you mainly used an ATi card you would look a little less suspect(key word: little) but in the end you are a focus group member using nvidia gear and trying to sell things to people who obviously don't need it (see CUDA in the other thread). Put yourself in our shoes. You look less unbiased than Charlie does.

You need to understand that even though YOU might not be biased you have a huge bullseye on you with the whole focus group thing. And seriously we just love you using the '' I know stuff but I cant talk about it! but what nVidia has will be TOTALLY AWESOME GUYS!'' Well thats just going to piss people off.

Don't get your hopes up, it won't change much. Instead of rumours you'll have facts and interpret them as you wish. :awe:

Nah, the only bullseye on my head is put there by you or others that feel the same way as you. I'm the same dude I was before the group, and will be after.
AND YOU SHOULD KNOW that "I know stuff but can't talk about it". That is a given!!
And it was a perfect response to your accusatory post back there saying that I bash every other rumor except the one that shows an actual positive. I mean, what else could I say?
Anyway, lets end this stupidity and talk about the cards eh? That's what we're all here for.

actually this thread is about availability so I find it strange how it got sidetracked to talking about what you know but can't say. I'm pretty sure numbers are kept pretty tight so only senior executives and the like would know something so I doubt being part of the focus group would tell you anything about that. So far this is a rumor just like any other and I recall seeing MarcVenice say numbers sounded pretty low when he talked to manufacturers.

You're pretty sure. ok. I believe you.
Back on track now? So do you think you'll be able to snag one of the 5000 to 10,000 cards?

The fact that fudzilla was reporting that the manufacturers themselves had not even received any retail boards(http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/18082/1/) last week kind of makes it hard to believe that they could have a huge stockpile of cards ready in like 3 weeks.

The truth is that they are late. Being late you would think they would want to launch as soon as possible(especially since GTX200 card stocks seem to be drying up). I mean if they could have they would have launched last month. Thats why it's REALLY hard for me to believe that they will have anywhere near enough boards to prevent a shortage.

If it's hard to believe they have a huge stockpile, why is it easier to believe Fudzilla? Or any rumor mill?
Very true that they are late. Maybe they are launching as soon as possible. If they could have launched last month, I'm sure they would have. But they weren't ready as we all know.
Once they have all the components ready to go (GPU, PCBs, coolers, hardware) it doesn't take a whole lot to mass produce them rather quickly.
If there is a shortage, I'm sure we could deal. Just like we dealt with the 5xxx shortage in the beginning.

So Nvidia is giving out 745 cards to each of its 14 board partners?
I find that really hard to believe.
Mabe they will, no one wants one? ,because there too hot ,overpowered, to big, only 480'cores, don't overclock, overpriced, and run shitty physx, but yet you say there will still be a shortage.

Explain this one for me, please. :hmm:

Edit: I forgot the most important part, performance, mabe because they are faster?
