I think Fermi being delayed till January should not be a big problem for NVidia, but if it's not out till March/April time frame, then that could be really bad.

Fuad now says availability will be in January somehow?

I personally find it hard to believe, since the news about the A3 silicon taping out was very recent. But if it does happen, it can only benefit us consumers, so it would be a clear win especially if Fermi does come out blazing.

Yes, and like a few weeks ago Fuad said Fermi will release at the end of November/early December IIRC. He keeps changing his mind it seems.

At this point it does not seem possible for Fermi to be ready and out in quantity in January. Maybe it will be a paper launch with some reviews at the end of January, and actual availability a month or so later. We'll just have to wait and see.

FWIW, just my opinion on it as posted in another thread.

Well it is difficult to find a 295 these days so it can't be very far off or they would keep making them. They just went to the single PCB three months ago. 275's and 285's are also starting to get thin availability. It's very difficult to find a high-end card lately from either side in fact.

They most likely stopped producing 295's and Co for other reasons but "Fermi around the corner". Like the price they could get (after all they would have to compete with the 58xx series) wouldn't justify the cost of producing the cards..
