Fermi/GF100/GF104 clarification...more delays?

This is just so wrong in so many ways . Did ya give that advice on NV overpriced products? What shouldn't AMD/ATI profit from their advanced tech .

Actually, this advice is based on both history and Economics 101. The MSRP of the 5XXX series card has gone up since their release because of the lack of competition. Also, if you look back a year ago, nVidia was charging a premium on their GT 200 series stuff until ATI released their cheaper 4XXX series cards. Then nVidia had to lower their prices to keep in line with ATI on a price vs performance scale.

ATI is currently taking advantage of their advanced tech AND the lack of competition. God bless both them and capitalism, but as a customer I like to see competition in the marketplace.

You missed the big point here . NV profits were high durring that period . Yet your tring to discourage people from giving retailers and partners apart of AMD'ATI pie .

Now my true feeling on this are not inplay here. I just going Apples to apples . Its only fairness that I use for example . Just a tool . I use when it to make the shoe fit properly. I have many tools I am allowed to use . Good tools or Bad tools I will use them to create fairness.

Fairness? That has never existed in anyplace ever in history.

All companies will gouge their customers any chance they get. As you pointed out, nVidia was doing prior to the 4XXX series launch. Companies will scream 'Socialism!' any time the government tries to regulate them to protect consumers, but at the same time lobby the government to pass legislation that gives them an advantage. Why do we have regions on DVD's and players? Why can't someone sell a player that ignores regions and such? Is that to protect the consumer? No. Fairness has no basis in reality. Not in business, not in nature.

Competition and choice is the only protection we have. I suggest we use it to our advantage whenever we can.

Fairness? Of which aspect of "fairness" are you referring to? Fairness to your fellow member here on the forum, or "fairness" to AMD/ATI with you thinking that they deserve a piece of the pie. How dare you "spend" someone's money in this fashion . Give him solid advice and tell him what to get now, if he cannot wait. And also explain the benefit of waiting, if he can, in fact, wait.
NOT because you think that AMD is the one that SHOULD get the piece of the pie.

Its like waiting for a promise that may or may not be what you expect once its fulfilled. Your trying to sell 1 companies tech. Based of an assumption . A card in hand today is worth 2 cards in a bush tomorrow

I think I'm gonna go ahead and give AMD a shot at my dough... Although AMD cards will go down in price... I doubt it will go down that much to really make a difference. I figure... If I really find a reason to get Fermi when it comes out... I'll sell 5870 at a loss. But I really don't think I'm getting Fermi. I don't believe it will make a difference to me in game play (I don't play Crysis).

If I'm able to max out my game settings... then what's the point unless I buy a new game that I'm not able to max out settings... and of course, if there are no driver issues.

Yep I always buy the mid-range cards, I went from a 9600gt superclocked edition to a 5770, couldn't be happier. I do wish nvidia would get their act together and get their cards out because right now there is just no reason to buy an nvidia card. Which means pricing blows.

In the end I don't think you'll be unhappy either way. I only wish I could afford a 5770 series card right now. Oh, hell, I only wish I could afford a 24" LCD and a 5770 series. And a new CPU... more memory... a pony...
