I'm not usually one to dismiss things out of hand without careful consideration, but my limits were tested last night when I returned home from the golf course. My wife has rearranged our bedroom, which in itself, I have absolutely no problem with. However, she has done son in accordance with some feng shui rules, saying our relationship is suffering because 'our relationship corner was empty'.

At some point in the conversation she also read a quote where having the dog bed in a certain corner caused the author of the book she was reading and her husband to have a 'threesome' with the dog relationship-wise. It was all I could do not to laugh outright and roll my eyes.

I'm all for new ideas, and functional, cleaner rooms, but can anyone else honestly tell me anything useful about Feng Shui?

feng shui improves the flow of energy in a room... its kind of like a combination of aesthetics and ergonomics with a shot of BS

and threesome with your dog

LOL, I think that's the best description I've ever heard. :)

your are not opening your self up, and your energy highways are blocked. Relax and open them and release the warm rush of serenity and peace.

LOVE the description. I'm going to use that on my wife. It wasn't us with the dog  ... it was the author of the book, though our dog does like to sleep in that corner

Feng Shui is total bologna. My sister's bf's family does the whol Fung Shway thing, and it is disasterous to the flow of the room!

Nope, not American either. Canadian, and pretty pure whitebread at that. My wife is a yoga instructor, and it has led her along some, shall we say, alternate paths over the years, and this is but one. :)
