I'm looking to buy a new rifle in the next month or so. I have desided I am going with an A15 varient. What I can't deside on is should I go M4 model or Full size m16 model. Would the 4 in in barrel lenght really make that much of a different in accuracy and engery?

It's a civilan model. Semi-Auto only.
They are legal in VA but communist states like CA or New York City they are not leagl.

Some states will not allow you to have a mag more than 10 rounds yet the gun it's self would be OK. VA has no such limit(I can guy the 90 round drum if I wanted to.)

I'm thinking the same thing.

Maybe I should go M4 lower receiver(for the stock) and get a 20" upper receiver? Would that even work?

I'm not much of a fan of rifles, but shooting that AR15 during training was nice.... Much preferred over the M14.

I am partial to the M4 barrel myself. Unless you are into longer distance target shooting, the M4 barrel would be fine. It also looks much nicer than the 20 inch barrel on a traditional AR-15.

i love when people use "communist" as a generic, retarded insult. i mean, it's not like communist russia didn't invent the most used machinegun in existence: the ak47.

Yes but do you thing the citizens were allowed to own a AK47 outside of the army?
I think not.

Ninety round? My AR-15 drum holds one hundred twenty. 😀

Why not just get a M249 with a 200 round belt?
Wait do they make these in a civilian version?

nope...that's fully automatic. But who'd want to carry a saw around all day long? God knows I hate carrying it (i'm the saw gunner for my squad).

The m4 design is much more desirable. The difference in size and weight is amazing. Bushmaster makes a very popular AR that you should consider. Plenty of different aftermarket options. Hell, you can even get an adapter to make it look like an m203 (and it shoots off flares instead of thoonkums)

I've shot ARs for over 10 years, taken them to DCM competitions. First of all, if you do any competitive shooting, a standard 20" barrel is mandatory. That being said, there is no theoretical accuracy difference based on barrel length. That being said, a longer barrel is always more accurate, because you have a greater sight radius, more mass etc. (HUMAN FACTORS) Also, for follow-up shots, they don't heat up as much as short bbls., which changes the dynamics of the bbl. Then their is rifling twist rates, stainless barrels, fluted barrels, free floated barrels and we can continue on forever. The bottom line is, what do you want to do with it? Then you can start filling in the blanks. Cost is also a consideration. 🙂

I researched for quite a while before I made my purchase. I ended up with a 6 position stock and a 16" upper with the mid-length handguards. I wanted the shorter barrel, but I didn't like the car handguards. I love it.

barrel length will improve accuracy and stability. Related to that (especially if you do your own reloading), the longer barrel will give you more options for powders, relating to their burn rates.

I can own fully automatic in my state. 😀

with level 3 fed. firearms liscense, most states will let individuals own fully automatic weapons. getting the level 3 ffl is another story lol
