Feelings on X64

Windows x64. What's the general feeling toward this thing? I just got done setting up a computer with it, and here are my first impressions having never used it before.

It seems to run much quick/smoother. Yet I am having trouble getting everything to work. Games have been giving me a hard time (half-life 2) and my wirless USB network adaptor wont work with the drivers provided. Are these faults of the OS or am I just not trying hard enough?

X64 seems to have tons of potential, but is it not widespread enough to recieve the necessary support to make it stand above the regular XP pro?

I think you're on the right track as to the experiences many people have with XP x64. Support however is getting to be a bit more widespread as companies are now shipping more and more factory machines with x64 installed. All my orders of Dell's Optiplex desktops this past week are all loaded with XP Pro x64. All the drivers work like they should and it is pretty snappy(compared to when x64 first came out, i mean, it ran worse than 32-bit version of windows). I think it's come a bit of a ways from it's original release.

That should be fun next year since MS hasn't provided a XP64->Vista upgrade path.

I know, tell me about it. they just recently gave out what their plans are as far as the direction they are going with Vista. I'm not seeing how it will be easier for anyone to get upgraded. There are too many "editions" of Vista...and the upgrade paths between Home, Media, and Pro are all different.
