Feeley or Garcia?

OK, here's a question for you somewhat more sophisticated NFL fans. Do the always cap conscious Eagles, who have let so many older players walk, opt to retain Garcia and/or Feeley after the season.

Keep in mind, Feeley just played a monster game, w/o Westbrook or Buckhalter at RB, against a non-dogmeat D.

Well?

I don't know if I'd classify an Atlanta D playing for nothing, looking forward to vacation, with a coach who's probably not coming back, as non-dogmeat.

I didn't see much of the last game but with the way Garcia played, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets offered a starting spot somewhere next year.

Garcia, no.

Feeley? Yes.

I think it is an issue with McNabb if Garcia was to stay around. I think Garcia STILL wants to start somewhere, and I don't blame him. I think Feeley is happy in the backup role.

Now, perhaps Garcia has changed his mind and is fine being a backup... well, I still give the nod to Feeley. Garcia is a better player in my mind and over his history in the NFL, but typically backups just aren't that good. Maybe it will be Garcia that stays and Feeley that goes, but I really doubt. I seriously doubt both will be staying. Unless, of course, McNabb is history.

Is there a real chance of that happening?

That and the entire Atlanta team has played like dogmeat in the 2nd half of the season.

The Eagles definitely want to have McNabb and Garcia on roster next year. McNabb will get the starting job but since he is so prone to injury they need a guy like Garcia to stick around. It's paid off big time this year..but say somehow Garcia leads the Eagles to a Super Bowl (which is definitely a possibility), I don't possibly see how you can not have him be the starter next year, a la Bledsoe/Brady.

Garcia was proven insurance in case anything happened to McNabb, and Feeley is the one being groomed for the job should McNabb leave/life injury/etc.

Garcia signed a one year contract, so my guess is that they let him go and look for a good QB in the 2nd-4th round. Once McNabb is out, Feeley will take over until that QB is ready to go.

This is how I would play it out on Madden. :D

Now that I think about it some more. I think the Eagles may end up retaining both AJ and Garcia. After AJ's leaving and return this year I don't see why he'd even try to go somewhere; one great game isn't going to change things for him. Garcia is good, and he wants to start, but he's getting old to learn and entirely new offense. I suppose he could just go to a similar west coast offense but even then, I'm not sure if a team is going to want to invest in him knowing he doesn't have much time left. Also, McNabb is out for the early season next year anyway, who knows what his rehab will be like and how he'll play when he returns, Garcia might end up starting longer than he anticipates.

The somewhat uncertain post injury status of McNabb makes this question all the more interesting, no?

If he only has 1 season left it doesn't matter if he plays like he has been. I agree with whoever said that Garcia will get a starting job somewhere and leave.

It may not be up to them.
Garcia signed a one-year deal and probably wants to start somewhere.
The way he's been playing, I'm sure many teams are interested in his services.

A discombobulated Falcons team who lost at home to the Panthers just a week ago is not a good measure for Feeley. Of course the Eagles would like to have Garcia back, but I think he'll be looking for 'greener' pastures ;)

If the Giants blow the Eagles out in the playoffs (you would like that :)), then he might not be that attractive. Secondly, I think the Eagles offense is suited towards Garcia and he might not be that good elsewhere. The Eagles and Garcia are a good fit.

Wow feely threw for 321 and 3 td's. I think this has something to do with the coaches, they make it look like any qb can step into that team and have awesome games. Feeley sucked on the dolphins too, wherver either on goes I guess they need a coach like andy reid.

And a pretty solid offensive line.

Yeah, Garcia fits into the Eagles west coast offense after coming out of a very similar offense in SF. That's why I doubt he'll have much use elsewhere .. too old to learn a new system. He's a chuck and duck/dink and dunk QB.
