personal trainer :D. Darn it, I thought it was a free training session at Gold's Gym. I thought she was just being nice; never mentioned money or anything, so I thought I'd be nice back and fix her computer for her for free after she mentioned it was broken and asked if I could look at it. She even offered to pay me, but I thought, "Well, she is nice enough to give me this free training session, I'll be nice back and not charge her either." After the workout, she hits me with the $40 bill and asks me if I want to buy a training package for about $300. Blah! :frown:

I wouldn't exactly say I was owned, I just didn't read the fine print well enough. I am still tempted to buy the training package since she's supposedly one of the best personal trainers in the state currently. However, I am not fixing anything for free any more after this one time since I already said I'd do it for free.

Anyone have any idea what a decent/average rate for a personal trainer is?

Heh, what a bitch (I'm talking about you, not her). She comes up to you, starts talking to you, and says nothing about charging you. Later, after you're done, she says you owe her money, and you not only agree to pay her after being deceitful, but you're still going to fix her computer.

No she didn't come up to me and start talking to me. My apartment complex has a special going where we get a discount at Gold's Gym, so I went and signed up. The guy said that they also have personal trainers, so I thought, "oh, cool, I'd like to try". So I did, not bothering to ask if they charge extra for that--I should have. I don't want to make it out like she tried to scam me or anything, it was my fault for not asking the gym if it was free in the first place, I just assumed. As for fixing her computer, I already said I would, so it's not like I can take back my word, especially since it was my fault for assuming the training session came with the membership to the gym. However, no more freebies for her. Not unless she puts in a good word with her uncle who's class I am going to be in this Fall, maybe not even then.

NExt time buy Aronolds encyclopedia of modern body building for $20 and save your money. Personal trainers are one step above used car salesmen IMO.

Why the f*** do you need a personal trainer. I'm sure the people working out in the gym would be happy to help you out.

Man, that sucks.
Tell her you'll break her computer if she doesn't pay you- that was just crooked.

that is bullsh!t that she charged you for the session w/o making any indication that you were gonna be billed.

I don't like bothering people? Let's be serious here, it's one thing if I was some cute girl asking a guy to help me plan a work out and diet routine, but it's quite another to be a geeky guy going up to a random stranger and be like "yo, dude, you look really buff, would you mind helping out with my workout a bit so I could be more like you?" Unless the guy is gay, I think he'd at least find that a little weird. The girl asking the guy? He'd be like, "aww baby, there's no need to be shy, you can ask me anything your little heart desire--and here's my number should you have any more questions."

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this. It was my responsibility to find out whether or not it was free. I just assumed it was free. The only thing she did was do the training session after I said that I would like a training session (she gave me two). She probably assumed I knew it was not free. It was my fault for assuming incorrectly and I'm willing to take responsibility for that rather than blaming her, when I was the one that approached her. Yes, Anandtech, you heard that right, someone here approached a girl and talked to her. Plus, I didn't post here first to ask whether or not I should talk to her.
