today has been the most unproductive day of my life.

i came into work around 11:20am
and been posting OT since.

my manager just stopped by at my office.
she told me to go home early... actually "now".
and no, i'm not getting fired. she's just nice like that.

that was about 15 mins ago.

i haven't done any company related work.
(to be fair, until monday, i don't have anything to do do. so even if i wanted to do something, i couldn't.)
:)

do you guys feel guilty for getting paid when you have one of these days?

i should've just stayed home. save on gas.

well... adios. i'm off.

Well, in theory yes. Getting paid for not doing anything just causes inflation. But in practice, hells no.

Please share where one finds a job like this! I'm about to take a position doing cancer drug research (cures, not causing it).

i said this in a thread earlier this week, but i'll repeat: I haven't been productive at work since December.

Sounds a lot like me hehe... I'm paid to be here for when something DOES happen... even tho a majority of the time I'm browsing forums like this passing time until the phone rings or I get an email. Ofcourse then I fix the problem in 15 minutes or less and right back to the web browsing I go.

I'd say, in a given week, I do about 6-7 hours of actual real work.

Today was more productive than most days this week.

I don't feel guilty because I am underpaid so the amount of work I do is good enough for the pay.

**haven't had a raise in 3 years, and 2 summers ago I got a promotion and was told I can't have a job change raise til the company does better

Wow, looks like we all have the same job. :)

This is what I did today....

9:30am - Arrived at work, boot up 'puter and laptop.
9:45 - After deleting junk mails, start surfing the web.
11:30 - Drived to subway for a regular teriyaki chicken sub.
1:20 - Took a call, wrong number.
2:40 - Going to fall asleep from boredom.

I don't think anything will be happening between now and the time I go home... Zzzzzz.....

well i have a time sheet to fill out, so i don't get paid for doing nothing (cuz i'm honest like that). i get the feeling my people are pissy at me though, for my lack of progress on this one project. not entirely my fault though... oh well.

Been here since 10a... have taken 8 calls so far...probably won't take more than 20... usually take about 40...it's pretty damn slow...
I plan to install a fan and some rounded cables on my personal rig I brought in... :D

I get treated like sh!t a lot... so I see this as compensation for the crap I have to put up with. No guilt here.

I heard when Bill Gates is taking a dump, he's being paid the same rate as if he's doing something productive.
Anyone got a figure on that?

no, not really. i figure i've earned it after working in countless jobs that paid crap and involved constant work. (i.e. every job i had in high school.)

I'm 17, I help run a major database for a government organization, and I get paid less than the people at Subway do. I don't feel guilty about sitting on AT at all :)

Government construction worker. Paid for 8 hours, works 3 if that. Trained by the union in the art of looking like you're busy when in actually you're doing nothing but picking the snot out of your nose.
