I am an IT professional that works for Kmart and with this Sears merger I don't feel to comfy right now.... all our upper mgmnt is in Chicago week after week battling whether they will be "in sourcing" or "out sourcing."

Sure would like to know already what the F@#$@ is going on.

Well, at least you're intelligent enough to sense trouble coming. Brush off and straighten up the resume just in case?

Good luck, and pics of the hot wife?

I can't remember, is Sears buying Kmart or the other way around. If Sears is taking control, yeah, you'll probably be out of a job.

K-Mart is buying Sears. That still doesn't guarantee his job is safe though. My first company laid off a number of their own employees (without much thought I might add) when they bought out another company.

And my company "merged" when it was actually purchased. The new company headquarters is in chicago, the kmart execs are flying to chicago to make decisions, sears bought Kmart regardless of what they put in the press releases.

Well after speaking to a few other colleagues I have calmed down a little. I am in a area that is not easily chopped off or outsourced. We are considered "stars" (I run the infrastructure and WAN, etc etc, not very easy to toss a newb in and say make it work on an enterprise international network... LOL) and a lot of higher profile people look to us for results and we have delivered countless times...yeah I know that doesn't mean jack when it comes time to cut costs. I at least am good for a couple more years at worst with server consolidation and virtualization on the horizon. Even if the move is to Chicago I feel I would be offered a position or chance to move. Going to polish my res, and finish my 2K3 certification and perhaps get some Cisco paperwork. You'd think experience would be enough but all the jobs I see posted are like Bachelor's degrees, 10 years experience, MCSE etc etc and only want to pay 50K.... I wish them a lot of luck.
