Getting ready to move to an AMD ddr platform (1.33mhz most likely). Anyone have any experience with any of the mobo's currently available? Any suggestions?

I'm strongly considering the Asus A7M266. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
TomT

except the fact that there is no multiplier settings on the A7M266, it's a good board

Do you have any experience with this board? Any others you would prefer?

One could always use the fsb settings to bump up the speed, but it would be nice if the multiplier settings could be changed. I've heard some rumors this might be enabled with a bios update sometime......

I have played with the board a bit. ASUS stuff, can't go wrong frankly. You can still do FSB overclocking, but it is no match with multiplier overclocking for sure.

There are already people posting instructions on adding in a dipswitches to do the multiplier overclocking, but it requires soldering, etc... not the easiest thing to do. I am not sure about the BIOS updated though. From the instructions I read about the soldering, it shouldn't work, coz' you have to replace some resister...

If you want multiplier settings included, the FIC AD11 is the one.

Have you tried the FIC board? How would you compare it with the Asus?

Thanks

you can read the review on AnandTech about the AD11. It is not bad at all, though personally I would say ASUS has a better quality and stability. Performance is something I don't consider as important though.

Featurewise ASUS probably will have more tweaking options, but the AD11 is again not far behind as well.

I know FIC now has a bundle of AD11 and a stick of PC2100 DDR SDRAM for around 180 bucks. If you can find that it sounds very attractive to me.

i have the AD11 and am completely happy...i thought about the A7M, but alot of the reviews i read weren't that favorable...the same reviewers generally liked the AD11 more. plus, there was the multiplier issue on the A7M...'course, now i guess Asus has discontinued the A7M and are going with the A7A, which might be worth waiting for.

personally, i'd seriously look at the MSI's Master and Master-S
