You've obviously never used USPS tracking.

Anyhow, it's not like you ordered a human heart from the Internet. Relax. It will get there.

Never had a problem with UPS, and we ship about 10-20 packages out a week...

I once got a fedex package before it was ever updated in the tracker.
I kept checking and looking for an update.
got the package and two days later the tracking info said it was delivered.

What's wrong with people saying "What ups?", or "What's up?"
It's just a way of modern speaking when greeting familiar people.
In the future, we'll probably say something like, "Smell you later" instead of "Good bye",
Would that make you feel better?

The 'we' and the volume indicates that you are a business. UPS is OK for businesses and shutins, but for those of us who have to have something shipped to our homes while we are at work, it's like a black hole. I would never ship anything I cared about by UPS - I'd be a damn fool not to have learned from all the problems I've had over the years.

I've never had a problem with UPS, either when I'm at home (LI, NY) or when I'm at school (Chicago).

These are items shipped from my home. I also receive quite a few packages too...I have a great UPS guy.

Should I get him something for the holidays?;)

Ever since I witnessed UPS chucking packages up my driveway, I have avoided UPS shipments.

You don't understand the sheer volume of packages they deal with. The system is updated in real time, but the way they operate there are a few hours before a package is scanned in as received at a hub. The packages sit idle after that until they're placed onto an outgoing trailer or a package car. A package moving to another hub won't be updated until it is received at the next hub. A package going out for delivery is scanned as out for delivery in the early AM. You don't have RFID tags with GPS on your package, how much more real time do you need?

UPS' system is actually significantly better than their competitors

I'm inclined to agree. I've received packages from Fed Ex, UPS, USPS and DHL and UPS had the most frequently updated tracking. So you want real time tracking on your packages??? You're freaking nuts. First of all do you realize how expensive that would be? You're talking about a gps asset tag attached to every package and those aren't cheap, nor will they work when the boxes are riding in the back of a tractor trailer.
I suppose they could put a GPS locator on each tractor trailer(I'm guessing they might already have this) but making real time location data on their trucking publicly available creates security risks as well as informs their competitors of exactly where all their trucking routes run and how long each one takes. I don't know if that is a useful piece of information to a competitor but I would think it would be. And finally how many people would actually want to know the exact geographic location of their package at any given time? For me that is overkill. Knowing that my package is in a truck somewhere between California and some central distribution facility in Dayton, Ohio is enough for me. I don't need to know that the trucker stopped for a bite and to drop a deuce at mile marker 233 on Interstate 80. My guess is most people are quite happy with their current tracking system.

You mean they can't put GPS tracking units on every package and ship it across the US for 15 bucks? BOYCOTT!

UPS > FedEx.

*finds flame suit*

I'm serious though. Both of them come up onto my porch, and leave the package just around the corner behind some covered deck chairs, out of sight, out of the weather. The only difference is that UPS works wonders for having things here in timely fashion, while FedEx... if they say 2-5 days, it will be 5.

It all depends on your location. From Newegg, UPS is f***** lazy and takes 3-4 days on 3 day shipping while FedEx gets their 3 day to me in 2 days.

One time, with UPS, my two day air package took 14 days to arrive. I couldn't even get in touch with customer service. They forgot it at various airports multiple times, left it in the truck, mechanical failures, etc. I was shocked I even received it. FedEx > UPS. I've never had a problem with FedEx, they've even delivered packages ahead of time (*shocker*)!!

That's one of my sticking points. I've had UPS hold a package at the hub because it was too soon. I've had UPS have a scan indicating my item was out for delivery, but again, it was taken back to the hub because it was too early. Never had such an occurrence with any other carrier.

This thread inspired me to check my delivery confirmation on an RMA to Corsair, I usually don't bother cause their page would always say 'We've received electronic confirmation that your package is to be scanned at some point or another and that's about all you'll ever know from this page." Okay, so it's not exactly that, but close.

Status: Delivered
Your item was delivered at 12:53 PM on December 3, 2007 in FREMONT, CA 94538.

Wow. I'm shocked. USPS gave me information. UPS is not that bad (tracking wise anyway), I think FedEx is best.
