Lookout California!

Maybe one way to reduce the deficeit is to target Marijuana growers???

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_medical_marijuana_feds

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Several states have started reassessing their medical marijuana laws after stern warnings from the federal government that everyone from licensed growers to regulators could be subjected to prosecution.

The ominous-sounding letters from U.S. attorneys in recent weeks have directly injected the federal government back into a debate that has for years been progressing at the state level. Warnings in Washington state led Gov. Chris Gregoire to veto a proposal that would have created licensed marijuana dispensaries.

Will the Feds start charging people with Felonies for Marijuana???

Bullshit prohibition. Morons would make more money legalizing and taxing industry + sales vs imprisoning people and taking away their livelihood. How can anyone have an issue with that? It'd be even better if ALL drugs were legal.

The prison and law enforcement industries have a issue with that. This is all about welfare for those industries and not whats best for the country.

Yeah... except the government bitches about revenue. Not having people locked up means they can create revenue for the government. Legalizing marijuana turns on a multi-billion dollar spigot and allows people to keep their jobs. Hell new lobbying groups would prop up and give them money. Honestly, the short sightedness and idiocy of our leaders is astonishing.

Easiest way to save money is to abolish the prison system and enable the execution system. That's how China dealt with the opium problem. Get caught with opium --> execution.

Or we could you know, just not prosecute people for things they choose to do to their own bodies. Someone snorting a line of coke off a hookers ass doesn't hurt anyone, only uptight douche bags get offended because they're to shit of a person to pull off snorting coke off a hookers ass.

No deal, hippy. Do something I don't agree with --> execution.

It would be good in a way to reign it in soon but realilisticly. The medical stuff is plain strong and getting pricey. Just legalize it for smoking. Let cancer folks have the strong stuff. Use cheaper less potent stuff for rolling and kill the drug cartels and probably less alcohol related crime since the two don't usually mix.

Or just let it be legal and let consumers decide what they want. If I want to smoke shit rocking 25% THC and high CBD%'s what the fuck does it matter to you? When I walk down the street smoking a joint, who am I hurting? Absolutely no one, but myself. If everyone cares so much about me, I have a list of other things they can help me out with that don't have to do with taking away something I enjoy and in my opinion makes my life better.

I'm a medical marijuana user, I use it instead of taking anti-spastics and anti-psychotics for my IBS.

You give the Feds power and they will never relinquish it. They will do everything they can to defend their power base and also try to get you hooked on their offerings (federal tax dollars). This is why I knew that even if prop 9 passed in California the feds (Eric Holder and Obama who had already made threats to the state about this issue.) would come in and shut it down ASAP. Why? Because it would threaten their ability to enforce their mandates.

Riots would have occurred if the feds stepped in to take action after the "good" people of California, which I am one of, voted to legalize marijuana. We riot over our sports teams winning, we tried to destroy the city over a black man being beat, you honestly think we'd sit idly by as a people if the feds came in and did something like that? It probably would have got pretty bad.

Governments record speaks for itself. How many powers have they given themselves, which they haven't relinquished? I bet you that list is numerous amounts of pages more than the list of powers they have relinquished.

Powers to decide what you can and cannot do to your own body?
-killing yourself is illegal (they throw your corpse in jail)
-taking drugs is illegal

Thats it? That was the power grab over 200 years? lol. Please give more examples if you want me to believe that the government exists to grow its power.

Don't forget about big pharma and alcohol producers! I can just see big pharma lobbyists wining and dining feds while slurping down a bunch of martinis to get them to see the error in their ways.
