Feds Arrest 300 Illegal Workers at 61 Wal-Marts

Problem is no legal citizens will take those kind of jobs for that kind of pay. Honestly, if the US gov cracked down on illegal immigrants, this country would grind to a halt. Would you work as a dishwasher or farm laborer 12 hours a day for sh*tty pay?

Alot of farmers in NJ were paying $8 an hour for farm labourers but could not find anyone to take the jobs. These farmers had like 100 positions to fill and went to highschools, colleges, unemployment office and only filled like 2% of the jobs. It's hard work for long hours under the sun. Without immigrants, these farms would go out of business. Before people jump in and state that farmers should have paid more, they couldn't. These farmers could only afford to pay $8 an hour or they would be out of business.

I might agree with you about farm laborers and other similar jobs, but they were part of the cleaning crew. I see legal citizen cleaning crew members all the time.

Sorry to say, that means the employers aren't offering enough. One reason illegal aliens take these jobs is because they are the only jobs they can get and still have a chance at staying under the INS radar. It also undercuts the job market for legal residents and starves them out.

The result of getting rid of illegal workers would be reasonable wages for others, and it would probably result in higher prices for a lot of products and services. I don't think paying everyone who did an honest job in getting the products you want to market is too great a cost for our society. If you disagree, it may mean that you are indirectly one of those suppressing the earning power of legal residents less fortunate than you.
 
And walmart gets off because it was a contractor that filled the slots--walmart didn't hire the staff. Of course, walmart probably had some crazy bid rqtms for pricing and that's why the illegal vendor won the job. I guess now they'll have to raise prices so that they can afford to hire citizen staffed laborers to clean the stores.

and sadly, (my opinion), wWalmart KNEW they had illiegal immigrants (oops, lets use the politically correct term-UNDOCUMENTED immigrants) working there. There is just no way they could not.

Anyone know if it LaborReady was the contractor?
