Fedora not saving settings...

Hi all,

Fedora Core 5 with all patches and Totem-xine
Athlon 64 3000+
Asus A8V Deluxe
Hercules Fortissimo III 7.1
Via 8327 Audio

First, if I try to install Java runtime or Flash in firefox it says it will install but when I reload the page, restart firefox or reboot the computer the plugin no longer exists.

And when I try to set the default audio device to Herculess and increase the sound, the system does not save the changes. Even when run as root. And when I do increase the sound but not click close, I can hear it but then nothing comes from the DVD movie in Totem.

Any ideas?? Thanks!

You'll need to install a package or go through the system-wide install (copying the plugin libs to the system-wide plugin dir). The automatic download-and-install from Firefox will only work if you installed FF standalone (in your home dir, no packages), which is usually not a good idea for other reasons.
