Fedora 8 - which distribution for Core 2 Quad cpu

I download i386 and X86-64 distribution of Fedora 8. I have Intel Core 2 Quad cpu. Which one is better for this cpu, i386 or X86-64 distribution?

Or, do you recomend me another linux (to have best performance for math/numerical simulations), which one exactly ?

The only difference is one is compiled 64-bit AMD64 (x86_64) and one is compiled for 32-bit i386. All 4 cores will be supported by both equally.

You might also have better luck finding your math software in the Ubuntu or Debian package repos than in Fedora package repos.
