Fedora 3 default desktop kind of plain... any way to spice it up?

The Fedora Core 3 default desktop is kind of plain... is there any way to spice it up?

I found a few themes available , but they're all kind of the same style with different colors, and still boring. Should I be looking to a different desktop, or can gnome look any better?

Theme it yourself. You can get some really hideous looking desktops. Or, atleast that's what I did with blackbox.

You can add all sorts of little doo-dads.

Gdesklets is one
add a Dock or two
transparent xterms always liven things up.

One thing that looked cool and I'll use once I get my desktop back up and running is xdesktopwaves

It makes your desktop be like a ocean and your cursor and windows makes waves. Nice if you have CPU cycles to burn.

Or add a lot of virtual desktops and use 3ddesktop to switch between them. Need a nice vid card though.

Then you can try switching out metacity for something slightly different like OpenBox and still have it be gnome. I use to do that.

Then there are lots of little toys and such.

Also a nice desktop background can do wonders. this place has great desktop backgrounds
