Fedora 11 :: GMA965

Hey guys,

I am running Ubuntu 8.10 right now and Flash, among other things just seems sluggish all the time. Granted a lot of this is because Adobe can't code for crap - but still I have noticed a lot of performance regressions after 7.10. 9.04 with the GMA965 is useless so I am looking for something to go for.

Therefore, in 9 days, when Fedora 11 is released, I plan on trying it out - seeing as it uses UXA, DRI 2, as well as KMS, will I experience problems in there just the same as Ubuntu 9.04? I suppose 11 uses 2.6.29 or later Kernel given that Plymouth is supported?

Thanks,
-Kevin

i just read a thread today that said that most intel problems should be fixed in fedora 11.

I dont know the thread off hand but will link it here if i find it again. I think it was in this sub forum http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=334

Why are they fixed though? Is it merely because Fedora is generally grabbing the absolute latest software packages for their distro (ie: Kernel 2.6.30)?

Thanks,

that and the other reasons you listed above. I dont actually believe it will fix everything, i think we need to wait for a better driver from intel. but im hopeful.

have you tried any of the "fixes" listed on ubuntuforums? I have 8.10 now so im not able to goto the new kernel. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1130582
