I ordered some prototype parts from China and the vender shipped them overnight via Fedex. (48lbs)
I didn't think there was any way they could overnight, especially something weighing 48lbs.

Here is the tracking info:

It made it from CHINA to TN in 5hr 8min?!?! (4:10 to 9:18)
Supposedly, these are all times based on the destination (Ohio).

Can shipping company airliners fly faster than passenger jets?

I need to look up how much this cost, out of curiosity.
Amazing...

Nope.

No, their fleets are the same planes (minus seats). The only way to make that trip that quickly is in a military grade jet. It is also possible that China shipped it via ICBM.

a flight from china is about 16 hours. That would be the packages TOTAL time so far as I can see from the picture.

I received photos of the parts, from the vender, yesterday at 8am.
They said they were shipping them that morning.
Even if the times are not exact, 1 day shipment from China is amazing.

yes 1 day shipment is pretty freaking amazing O_O

Maybe china dusted off an old SR-71 took the package to Mach 3.2 just to get it to you in time? :D

I have changed the drop down menu to all of the settings and it still shows a ~5hr duration between Left FedEx origin facility and Arrived at Fedex Facility.

They must have their times off a little.

I'm fairly sure the times listed are local, not standardized to your time.

That's about a 7,000 mile trip. There's a 14 hour time difference. The plane flies at say, 500mph. That's 14 hours for the trip, which is nullified by the time difference. So that 5 hours is actually the time it took for the package to get from that local sorting facility, go to the hub, put on the plane, miscellaneous flight time (i.e. flight speed could be wrong as well as any takeoff/landing), then get off the plane and be scanned in Memphis.

The modern world is impressive, but this isn't really bending space and time or anything. In fact, I bet it happens so frequently that it'd blow your mind. Buy a new laptop from just about any company at the time of day you did and choose overnight shipping and be amazed. And often, that's only like $50.

Granted, yes 48lbs worth of stuff is more impressive, but depending on package size, its not outlandish. That's not really freight weight, and I'll guess the boxing isn't too large, so it should be able to go through the same channel as the laptops in the situation I cited.

China probably has hundreds of trade ships/planes heading to the US every few minutes.
