I was expecting a laptop shipment today and I saw a FEDEX truck went by, so I went to the front door but there was nothing and no door tag. I checked the tracking online and it shows

"
Dec 9, 2008 1:31 PM
Delivered
Wheeling, IL
Left at front door. Signature Service not requested. "

I've called fedex and filed a tracing service but they said it will take upto 48 hours before someone contacts me.

I've walked around my block to see if it was mis-shipped but I dont see any box anywhere..

It was an EEE laptop for $350.

Anyone know what will happen? would I get my full money back if they can not locate it?

arggg this has never happened with usps, ups, or fedex before...

crap.

UPDATE!!!* the idiot delivered it to a different house half a block away! but I got it :D!!!!
its EEE 904HA ^^

That's unusual. Usually don't all electronic devices or computers require a signature? I know for UPS it does. Annoyed me as a driver helper when we had to keep hold of things like cellphones, tvs, and dells.

check with your neighbors. it wouldn't be the first time they have dropped a package at the wrong house

Well at least they are delivering. I have a package they simply seem to not want to deliver to me. There are even notices under the tracking number that "No Delivery Attempted - Rescheduled for next business day". Still haven't seen an update yet today....

If your house has a porch or deck behind your house check back there. My Fed Ex guy has put stuff back there a couple times.

I had the same problem with DHL, except that I had requested a signature. Tracking had the package as delivered with Front Door signing for it. Never got the package. The company sent another one. This one actually arrived with Front Door signing for it again. No wonder they're going under.

One time my drive was snowy as hell and I checked the tracking for UPS and it said "delivered, porch". So I checked my back porch where they always leave it...no deal. I checked my front porch and my side door...all around the house really.

I found it the next day, it was up on the main road in a plastic bag...tied to my mailbox WITH the bag.

If you're going to tie to to my mailbox like a weirdo, thats cool...but put memo "mailbox" please!

It wasn't dark yet, I wouldn't go take it... yet.

Anyway, I think everyone needs to request delivery people ring doorbells and hand-deliver again. Too much of this crap happening. If you're not home during the day make them hold for pickup.

*The aforementioned should only apply to people who care about their crap.

Maybe with the gray financial cloud over everybody they're trying to cut costs and drivers are doing twice the workload in a day so they haul ass and half-ass every delivery. They used to ring the bell and hand me packages even if no signature was req'd. Now I'm lucky to get a doorbell ring, honestly. None in the last 3 packages I can remember.

I'll add my odd delivery story. I had a UPS package for signature delivery.. I came home to find whatever piece of electronic equipment I had ordered (don't remember if it was a mobo/graphics card or what) sitting at my front door. I was rather annoyed that it was delivery without a signature so I went on to see what the delivery status was .. it said that it was delivered, and there was even an image to the signature. I looked it at, and apparently the driver forged my signature to leave the package.

If you have a pickup in the driveway, check the truck bed.

I hate it when they don't even check to see if your home.

Never lost a package, but it's so annoying when you've been home all day and walk out to find a note telling you to pick it from the P.O.

I must have a new UPS guy, because he actually rang the bell, knocked on the door, and -get this - waited for me to answer it on a package that wasn't even Signature Required. In the past, they haven't even made it all the way to the front door before they were dropping boxes and scampering back to the truck. I have a 15' or so front porch/walkway behind hedges and one time they left two LCD monitors right their in plain view because they couldn't be bothered to walk the extra 5 steps.

Usually UPS rings the bell, then walks back to the truck as fast as possible.

I hate explaining this shit but if they were to wait for everybody you'd never get your package because they're busy bastards. I ran a small suburban route last year that received more than triple it's normal volume during holiday season. When you have hundreds of stops to make in a day you aren't going to wait.

But, the reason someone waited I would assume is that the driver dropped a helper on your street. He was probably waiting for his driver to come back and took his time.

This happened to me before. I was waiting for a package from FedEx and saw it as delivered on the tracking. I went home and there was nothing. I looked on my balcony (above the door... UPS has actually tossed stuff up there before!) and talked to my neighbors.

I then called FedEx to see what they could do. I also found out why they need 48 hours to respond to you... it got delivered the next day.

They ring your bell?? All I heard yesterday was a thud like something fell off the balcony. I looked out the peep hole and saw nothing. When I opened the door an hour later to leave my house, I found out that I had a package.

Thanks UPS!
