Fedex Question

I ordered something online and am having it delivered to my place at college. They like to deliver around 10, and I have class every day. Is there any way I can just go pick it up?

Also, my roommate may have been home when they tried to deliver it earlier, and I got this notice on the tracking: Adult recipient unavailable (21+ years with photo identification). Is that standard, or do they only put that when there isn't a 21 year old available (versus no one home at all). The problem is I'm only 20, and so are all my roommates. Will I not be able to get my own package?

You should be able to contact fedex and set that up. They have a QA department which can find the package(hopefully) and set it aside at the distribution center. The thing to note is that it is on the delivery truck right now then it will not be back at the dc till later tonight. Depending on the pickups that the driver has to do it may not be till after 6. Which may be later than they will allow you to pick it up. The note about the 21 age or higher may be something that the sender checked when sending the shipment or it may be a mis-entered code from the driver. They have a range of codes for why it was undeliverable so they do not get punished by corporate for not delivering all of their packages for the day.

You can pick it up after 6 pm or so usually at the local warehouse. They will leave the note, you will need to take that with you.

Depending on the sig required you might be able to sign the slip and leave it on your door for them tomorrow.

OK - if they have made an attempt to deliver it, they should have left a call tag. On it their will be instructions with a phone number to call. Call that number and tell them you want it held at the distribution center for pickup and you should be good to go. As far as the notice, if the shipper indicated that a signature is required, they have the option of specifying that the person signing for the package (if not the addressee) must be 21+ with photo ID to prevent those irresponsible damn kids from signing for (and subsequently losing) your package. :)

LOL, story? or just blatant trolling?

Each time FexEx delivers a box here they throw it over our fence into the back yard. The box always breaks.

So you blame the whole company for one employee's misdeeds? Gotcha... Odds are I do not have the same delivery driver, so I can ignore your issue.

I haven't been home yet, so I didn't know they left the note. Unfortunately Fedex is my only option, I wish they would have sent it USPS, so it could sit in my mail box.

Sometimes Fedex will actually charge extra if you pick up a package from a distribution point. I thought that was silly , seeing as how it saved them a trip. The reasoning I got is it actually takes more man power to find the package , remove it from the route, and bring it to the front.
USPS is good for some things, but if they ever lose a package you might not see it for years.

If they can't deliver the first day, it goes back to the distro point and you can pick it up yourself after 6 PM.

Also, most colleges have special locations to receive packages like this, like in the closest office or mail room. Ask around your dorms, someone probably already knows where the packages end up. Usually you go and show your ID and they'll cough up your package. They may even place a note in your mailbox to let you know you got a package.
