Fedex "Package not due for delivery"

I ordered some dual-layer discs from Newegg, and they arrived in town at 9AM this morning. On the tracking site, it says "Package Not Due for Delivery"

Is this Fedex's way of telling me that they're holding my package for a whole extra day just 'cause I didn't get 2nd day shipping? I can understand not bothering with it since it got here so quickly (I did ground shipping and tomorrow will be the 3rd day). Wouldn't it give them a better reputation if they went ahead and spend the extra few minutes to ship it out to me early? It was sitting in the sorting facility all day.

I'm not complaining, I just thought it was kind of funny because it's never happened to me before.

Exactly, I just didn't know that they did this. I thought slower shipping just meant that they took their time and got it to you whenever :p

Basically the people that DID pay for 2 day or overnight shipping get first priority.

So... either

1) There must've been a lot of packages
2) They didn't get the package on early enough for the delivery trucks.
3) You still get it tomorrow, so who cares?
