If you open a FedEx account, they basically just keep your credit card on file and everything gets charged to it. I don't like it b/c I never see an actual FedEx statement, just a bunch of charges from them on a credit card statement.
I also have a UPS account which I opened through PayPal. This one is much better, I save a little bit off of the rates they charge for credit card shipments and the send me a bill so I can send them a check.
They only charge you money for shipments, if you want a daily-pickup they are usually around $10-$25 a week depending on usage but again this is totally optional.
By far the easiest company to get an account from is Airborne Express. You just sign up via their website w/ your "company" name (probably could just be your name again) and then send you a welcome kit. Airborne Express also has the lowest rates, but if you're sending it to a residential address it's sort of hit-or-mis. Also since their smaller you'll be hit with a lot more rural area surcharges. UPS has much better coverage and you'll rarely see these.
Does that help?
