Has anyone here open a Fedex or UPS online account?
I'm thinking about opening one with Fedex, namely, and I'd like to know if there are any major catches
(like services fees, subscription fees, home pickup fees, etc).

Any input would be appreciated.

If you open a FedEx account, they basically just keep your credit card on file and everything gets charged to it. I don't like it b/c I never see an actual FedEx statement, just a bunch of charges from them on a credit card statement.

I also have a UPS account which I opened through PayPal. This one is much better, I save a little bit off of the rates they charge for credit card shipments and the send me a bill so I can send them a check.

They only charge you money for shipments, if you want a daily-pickup they are usually around $10-$25 a week depending on usage but again this is totally optional.

By far the easiest company to get an account from is Airborne Express. You just sign up via their website w/ your "company" name (probably could just be your name again) and then send you a welcome kit. Airborne Express also has the lowest rates, but if you're sending it to a residential address it's sort of hit-or-mis. Also since their smaller you'll be hit with a lot more rural area surcharges. UPS has much better coverage and you'll rarely see these.

Does that help?

Open an account with whichever carrier you use more ... personally I prefer FedEx. I have a personal account with them, they have my credit card on file and just charge it.

i use Fedex and am happy with it. It is so nice to just walk in past the lines of people, put my package on the counter, hand them the manifest, and walk out. :)

This is quite helpful.

ptyes: The thing is you mentioned a $10-$25 daily-pickup charge. I'm not trying to run a business but I want occassional pickups, like maybe once every 2-3 weeks.
Do you think I'll have to pay some sort of charge?

RossMan/Iamwiz82: Know anything about any possible residential pickup charges?

Sorry to impose such annoying questions.

But wandering around the Fedex site I managed to find an explicit statement of the fees.

Thanks all.
