FedEx Ground spanks UPS Ground

FoBoT

No Lifer
i shipped a computer and box of accessories to my parents in Oregon, from Missouri

i check the UPS web site and it was going to be about $30 just for the computer, plus whatever the second smaller box would be. it isn't that big of computer, but i double boxed it to make sure it survives the trip, i put it into a box from a 17" monitor i had bought. at that size, the UPS "oversize" surcharge kicked in and so the "dimensional" weight kicked up to 48 pounds

i checked FedEx Ground and it was going to be about $20 for the computer

so i took it to FedEX and my total bill for BOTH boxes was only $27.25 😀

fedex charged me less to ship BOTH than UPS would have for just the computer

FedEx Ground rocks! 🙂

Airborne Ground smacks them both. Combine that with OfficeMax's $5 off and 50% off coupons, Airborne Ground rulez all!

Smoke on that! 😛

i'll have to see where the nearest airborne office is
the fedex office is on my way to work, i used to use the office depot to ship UPS, also on my way to work

UPS dents up my boxes a lot. I prefer USPS and Fedex now. Dell likes to do returns via Airborne, which is also very good.

Every OfficeMax has Airborne service AFAIK

fedex ground works for me. cheap and faster than ups ground.

i don't use airborne at officemax because it takes too long, the people there are always incompetent. with fedex, i just print up my own label and drop the box off at my local postnet.

only time i use airborne is for huge packages where the occasional coupon might make a difference.

ups is horrid. i've had overnight shipments take 4 days with them before 🙁

and regular shipments are lucky to arrive in under a week

Airborne Ground at OM is cheap, even more than FedEx Ground. I switched from UPS -> FedEx -> Airborne. It cost me like $5 to ship a 10lb box across the country and it was delivered in 3 days.
