fedex, does signing "one" package slip constitute a release for all future packages

I had a fedex package to be delivered yesterday 11/6/2002 and the tracking number/Fedex/driver claim that the package was left in front of my door, and they have signature release on file. However, when I got back yesterday night, there is no package there and the package is assumed to be lost/stolen.

I called fedex and they said they have a signature release on file. But I never remember sending in a signature release form. The only thing I remembered is that few months ago, when a package was not delivered due to required signature. I signed that package slip and left a note that they can deliver that package to the rental office. I wasn't aware that once you sign one for one package, they use that for all future packages? Did this happen to anyone? I would assume when I sign the slip, the signature is a release for that package only. Plus, I never told them to leave it at the door, my note on the slip clearly says to deliver to the rental office if absent.

Now that the package is lost, my seller/fedex both refuse responsibility. What should I do?

To answer your question, no.

It means that someone signed for the package. If the signature isn't yours, raise hell.

Once you sign that, your signature is on file forever as far as I know.

Wrong, I never sign for fedex packages from newegg after I did it once.

There are two sides, I believe, to the Fedex slip. One side you sign so they leave one package and one package only, however, on the other side if you sign it they will put your signature on file so you don't have to be there to sign. This could be convenient for some, but for others, and it seems like you are one of them it could risk having your packages stolen. I don't think FedEx is responsible for the package anymore, since your signature was on file. I would try calling them to remove your signature though, so in the future you have to be there to sign for it.

check the tracking number online. it usually will show the signature of whoever signed for it.

Nobody signed for it. That is his dilemma.
