FedEx delivers...

SunnyD

Belgian Waffler
Well, I had a new mobo and CPU delivered today from Newegg. FedEx kindly dropped it off on my doorstep at 11:20am. My wife got home around 1:00pm or so, and I asked her whether she had picked up the package on the way in...

Problem is there was no package. FedEx dropped it off citing a signature waiver on file. I do not have one on file with them. Most certainly not... seeing as I live in an appartment. Which begs the question, why would a shipping company even allow releases for appartments? And why are releases based on address and not name+address?

Anyway... they're tracing the package, not like they'll find it. The driver isn't going to admit anything wrong. It'll probably get egay'd and I'm left with Newegg taking a swing at this one for me.

I had my wife call the office to see if it was delivered there. Nope.
I had my wife check the commons for our building to see if it was delivered to the wrong door. Nope.

Ausm's answer ftw.

can you fight the sig waiver part and put the blame on them?

I already have. I'm giving until I get home before I call up Newegg. From what I recall, Newegg is pretty good about dealing with this sort of thing.

I think fedex has recently defaulted to waiving the signature for home deliveries unless you explicitly state that it's required when shipping.

Well, I've called Newegg and they're starting the claims process. Looks like I'm out a motherboard and CPU for the next 2 weeks.

when I ordered a sony receiver from J&R a couple of years back, the UPS guy had my $500 package on my open porch, in the rain/snow slush that was coming down that day.

boy was I pissed off when I got home.:|

FedEx or UPS absolutely refuse to leave any package whatsoever on my apartment doorstep, and have for years. That's why I either have to have something shipped USPS or have it shipped to work.

Good luck with your ordeal, I could only imagine my anger if my new mobo and CPU were ripped off.

I'm sure we'll see the FedEx driver posting here asking for help installing his new mobo and CPU.

FTW!!!!

Yah its kinda like when DHL shipped me my Suse 10 professional box stating no one was home when there was and just leaving a sticker with the wrong date on it. Then again DHL is a bunch of slackers. Nothing but horrid stuff when they ship things.

Atleast NewEgg will be giving you your mobo+proc its really nice of them some companies wouldn't do that and blame the customer.
