i checked FedEx's website and i couldn't get info because supposedly i need a login account. anyway, i have a FedEx Express US Airbill shipping label/paper. i am authorized to use it by my employer but i've never used one before.

do i have to use a FedEx box or can i somehow attach the label to a box that i already have? thanks in adv for any input!

Regs - i looked at it and sure enough, my employer has already checked that box. now the question becomes, how do i attach it to my box? if i tape it on there, that's fine but if it gets wet or torn, wouldn't that cause problems?

It does not have a sticky peal on the back? If it doesn't I would use a fed ex pouch. If you do not have one I would tape the left edge to the box.

I would also recommend you making your own address label and completely tape it to the side of the box. Cover it will clear tape. Write the delivery address, your address and contact information, and most importantly the Fed Ex Tracking Number.

Don't forget to keep the top copy for yourself.

Don't tape it on. Take a staple through the portion that you rip off and attach it to the box.

It's not that big of a deal, it's just a hassle to remove the tape from the AWB. Most of the time it rips it.

Does your company have their own Fedex account number? Are they setup with Fedex.com? If so, though I haven't tried it, you may be able to create a label online rather than using a paper AWB. I know DHL and USPS has that option.

my employer does have an account which they authorized me to use. they just sent me the paper airbill.

going back to what you said, why would someone have to remove tape from the AWB? why would someone have to remove the airbill once it's affixed to the box? thnks again!

IIRC, once you attach the waybill to the box, you can detach one of the layers for yourself, then FedEx guy will detach another layer for FedEx....taping the waybill will defeat both of those attempts.

exactly.

meanwhile, most domestic AWB has a "sticky peel" on the back. International shipment doesn't.

if it is those "non sticky" ones, use a pouch. you can get one from the fedex driver, fedex authorized retailer, or Fedex's location (Kinko's)
