I sent in the paper forms for Federal and NY mid-April. How long does it usually take for it to be direct deposited?

Since you filed in April, it could take several months (especially if you did a paper filing).

There is one simple rule that everyone should follow when it comes to taxes. When you owe taxes, file in April. That way you get to keep your money for as long as possible. If you are owed refund money, file in January when the IRS isn't busy. That way you get your money back by early Feb.

Call up the IRS and tell them that. I'm sure they'll cut you a check and overnight it you ASAP.

One more reason to NOT want a refund. Adjust your W-4 form so that you'll have less money taken out each month and won't have a refund next year. The result? Instead of waiting until mid 2005 for your money back, you could have already had it in your pocket throughout 2004.

Paying in a bit at tax time is so much better than giving them lots of money and waiting to get it back.

Log onto the IRS Website.

If they have it in the system, it will provide you with an estimated date.
Figure the closet Fricay to that date for Direct Deposit.

I got mine back in 2.5 weeks. I sent mine to the Kansas City IRS office, though.
