Federal tax refund question

According to the IRS website my refund should have arrived by 4/27/04. It hasn't, and I'm trying to call the IRS to find out what's going on but I can't get through to a human. I tried calling the refund hotline and it tells me the same info, that my refund should arrive by 4/27, and it says to call back if it doesn't arrive by then. However, it doesn't actually give you an option if it is already after that date. I tried all the usual tricks, hitting 9, 0, *, #, whatever, but I can't get through to a human. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

Still no news. This really sucks. Their rebate status hotline still just tells me to call back the same number if I don't receive my refund by 4/27.

Next time ask for direct deposit 😕 Does not cost any thing and the funds would have been there 2-3 weeks ago.

You do not have to use e-file for direct deposit of refunds.

Keep calling or contact your local bully office in person.

They give the same days-after-filing estimate no matter when you file. The fail to account for a very large number of people waiting until the last minute to file.

You can call if you are that worried, but they should show up any day now.

I am concerned because I originally Telefiled but then sent in a paper form too. It's a long story, but basically what happened is I thought that I had Telefiled only my state tax (the refund amount came out to EXACTLY the amount I was supposed to get back from the state) but I later realized that it had been the Federal return and the dollar amounts just happened to be exactly equal. I looked into it right away when I realized mistake and I was told that it would be ok. The strange thing is, I also did my fiancees taxes (Federal and State) via telefile a few weeks after I had done my own and she had her refunds within a week. I got my state a while ago, but the fed is taking forever.

If it has been sent out (per the IRS website), there is always the possibility it got lost in the mail. It's hindsight, but seriously consider direct deposit next year, as Eaglekeeper suggests.

whenever I call those automated lines I hit zero right away. Usually that kicks you over to an operator who will transfer you to the right person.

Try that, then have it direct deposited next year.

The Feds will always take longer than the state.

Hehe, me too. That's the first thing I tried, but unfortunately all that does on the IRS line is disconnect you.
