Hypothetical situation:
Filed your federal income tax electronically using TurboTax.
Can't find the hard copy you printed out.
Had to format your drive after rebuilding the box.

Question:
Is it possible to re-create your return from the electronic form that was sent in? Would you be able to request a copy from the IRS?

Thats why you are supposed to print it out silly head. You shouldn't need it though unless you messed it up pretty bad.

Actually, I did. I have one copy at home and one in my office at work. You may need to provide a return if you are buying a home, for example.

Yes, you can ask the IRS for a copy, tho there is usually a small fee, and a substantial waiting time. (6-8 weeks) If you're getting it for something specific, ie financing, order it immediately. Otherwise, don't sweat it...:)

If you call the irs, you can either get a transcript of your return, which is suitable for proof of return by any lending institution. This takes 14 days and is free. Also, you can request a photo copy of your return. The copy is $23 and takes 60 days.
