eh, it's easy to say "ban scream rooms", but the reality is you have to give schools an alternate option to deal with kids who are an endless distraction to everyone around.

Maybe teachers need to be trained,

Parents at one Connecticut elementary school say they are outraged over the use of so-called "scream rooms" to discipline special needs students.

What kind of long term trauma do these rooms inflect on special needs children?

Seems there are existing options with names like 'suspension' and 'expulsion'.

Ah, teachers just don't have enough training! Training on what? You actually have to engage in discussion, rather than throw out vague statements.

I'm not saying anything positive or negative about scream rooms, I'm just asking what the better alternative is.

You have a kid who is disrupting every other student's ability to learn, and is not listening to the teacher. What do you suggest happen? What tools do you permit the teacher to use when a kid refuses to behave?

If you want to say each kid in each of these stories should be suspended, that is your option to advocate for it.

What do you do with the kid who is disruptive, decide to suspend him, but his parent cannot get off of work immediately to pick him up? How do you deal with him on that very day?

I fully admit I don't have an alternative suggestion. If someone comes up with a better system, I'll support it. But we can't just cross off disciplinary tools without adding alternatives on.

If necessary the principle earns their overinflated salary and stays behind until the parents can pick the kid up. If that means they stay until 10 PM so be it. And if there is opposite gender involved, then they'll need to find an admin of the same gender as the student to also stay behind. Once they get old enough, you can just watch them during school hours and then kick them out once the doors close. Making it home is their problem.
