I'm sick of having endless problems with zonealarm (running on my web server/internet sharing server), my friends telling me every once in a while they can't access my website, etc. what's a good and cheap hardware firewill I can stick between my dsl modem and my server?

For consumer/personal use, Linksys, SMC, and Netgear have pretty good in-bound firewalls.

I would still recommend a firewall that protects against "call home" malicious and/or spyware applications. But, the only other free one I can think of is Kerio (used to be Tiny, sort of), which I have been quite pleased with for over a year now. I think Sygate has one as well.

Good luck!

Checkout Smoothwall.

It runs on an old PC and turns that into a hardened internet firewall device (you lose the PC functionality).

In my opinion every DSL connection should be on a Cable/DSL Router even if it a single computer.

This answer is looking at the issue from the perspective of the above Quote!

So you will get an Entry Level Hardware Firewall, and it will be even harder to get to your Web Site, and you will end up putting your computer on the DMZ.

If it was not a serious matter I would say it is funny.

If the staff on your Site is "legal" you can get a Hosting services as low as $19.95 per year.

Example: Dixiesys.com

Of course you can find a more flexible Pro Hardware Firewall, but the cost of it will cover 50 years of inexpensive Hosting service.

BTW. I found the PCMAG review to be silly at best.
