Hi all,

Because i am so fed up with my Epox 8RDA+ board I am looking for a alternative.

Can you help me on deciding what to do?

Here's the deal:

I have a 2500+ XP (166 FSB) and a 33/66mhz capable ide raid card. First I was just looking for a new nForce mb (Abit for example). But i have a raid card which can deal with a 66mhz PCI bus. So i went out looking for a AMD mb with PCI 66mhz support, but offcourse this is only offered on Dual CPU mb's (AMD 760mpx). For that, I quess, I need at least one new processor. Upgrading to the Intel platform comes in mind then.

What would you do? Save money and go with Abit? Are dual AMD mb's still a alternative or should I wait for the Athlon64 platform? Any ideas?

What is the system going to be used for?

What drives do you have and how are they used? (Standard or Raid (what type))

I personally have an NF7-S 2.0 and LOVE the way my system runs. My 2100+ is running fine at 2.3Ghz, with 1GB of Corsiar PC3500 and a WD 80GB using SATA (IDE to SATA Adapter). I also have an old Quantum 36GB SCSI drive and U2W card that is used as my "work" drive. This is primarily used to uncompress large files and such so that the system does not get bogged down.

The current 2-CPU AMD boards are good, but they are very limited in what they can do compared to todays latest boards equipped with NF2 and KT400/600 chipsets.

I have a Promise TX2000 Raid controller running a 0+1 array with 4 disks. The disks are Barracuda V disks (80gig).

I use my system for developing work (C#, VB) and a occasional game. The Raid is for securing my data, and for more speed.

Hmmm, in that case...I would look at the DP boards so you can fully utilize that Raid card with PCI-66 support.

Not sure about which one would be the best for you, but check out this site: www.2cpu.com
