Fed and prison guard killed (by each other) in Tallahassee

Anyone in Tallahassee can safely speed through town, run red lights (not that they don't already do that), commit crimes willy nilly today as all law enforcement vehicles are here.

My husband drove by at 8 something this morning and called me to ask if I knew what was going on. Wasn't sure (heard a local report of a possible shooting on a local radio station) until now. He said it looked like every cop in town was there with blue lights flashing. This is not far from where I live and I have to drive past it to get to many things in town. Good day to stay home.

More excitement than we usually have.

What's the background story on this? The prison guards suspected of running a crime ring or something?

I dunno. they just keep saying that the Feds were there to serve arrest warrants on the guards. No more information on that has been forthcoming.

Guards were being investigated for sex with female prisoners and some other stuff. I didn't get it all.

"corruption investigation into involving guards trading drugs for sex with female inmates."
from CNN.com

Don't prision guards only carry 1 bullet in their gun out of fear a prisoner might get a hold of it?

General idea is you can defend yourself against a single attacker but multiple and the riflemen need to take over.

damn... I live in tallahassee... and this one guy in my social psych class worked(works?) as a prison guard. :Q
