how about when someone posts a link to a subscriber thread, instead of having to replace the "subscriber" with "forums", you just make it so that the login page has a link to that article on the "forums" server.

like you can choose whether to login or whether to continue as normal member.

or maybe you could check to see if someone is a subby when they read a message, and if they are, replace all "forums.anandtech" with "subscriber.anandtech"?

i think the first suggestion is the best way to go...

Zuni has already stated that #2 won't be happening. In any case suggestions go here.
 
this has been brought up so many times. I'm not a subscriber, but in all honesty, it really aint that hard to: right click link>copy shortcut>open new tab (or window if you are a stoopid ie user 😉)>copy link>type forums in place of subscriber

Only takes a few seconds.

And it's even easier to edit your hosts file and solve the problem once and for all. 😛
