In my experience, I ahve found a very firm matress, with a feather bed cover to be the best sleep ever.
A feather bed is basically liek a really thick down comforter that you put on top of your matress.
For example:

Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with these or know which brands are better? they seem to run upwards of $2,000 for some brands.

My sister helped me through the bedding process this weekend and I'm still confused. I don't know what the difference is between a down comforter, a featherbed, and a goddamn blanket. But I like whatever I bought. But these things look like something that you sleep on instead of sleep under? I paid a pretty penny for mine and it does not look like the items in the picture.

I think this is what i bought:

You sure? Down pillows make my life hell. I have to be careful in hotels if I plan to breathe at night.
