A sweet Intel 186 I picked up on Ebay. Amazing that they were developing pinless designs 27 years ago.

Have anything to drop it into, or just collecting old chips?

I dont have anything to drop it into (yet), but I figure they dont make 'em like this anymore and it makes
a nice little momento about the size of a quarter on my desktop.

Listening to Kraftwerk's Home Computer from 1982 is perfect while gazing at the chip:

I had a 188 or 186 out of some HP test equipment.. it had a teeny little heatsink.

afaik, 188/6, are like 8086/8, with some peripherals... except they're not at the same locations as they are on a pc/xt, so xt software doesnt work... might have a couple extras too..

Yep. of course microprocessors weren't invented yet, so it was just transistors and gates, etc.

Good show old chap! Seeing soldered wires in a CPU design is rather quaint I should say. Those 186s were going for about $10 each on Ebay recently.

Oh yeah? I have a kitchenaid food processor. It will tear all other processors to shreds.
