Interesting article. I suspect that within the next century we'll genetically engineer some other species like chimps (dogs, maybe?) to be sapient, but it'd still be extremely interesting if it turned out that we could communicate with another sapient species that arose on its own -- and who knows, maybe that's dolphins.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

Night of the Dolphin

Lisa going to Marine World, a SeaWorld-like park, where she takes pity on a sad-looking dolphin, Snorky. Lisa wants Snorky to go back to the sea, where he is revealed to be the king of the dolphins. The army of dolphins begin their plot killing Springfield's residents, approaching on a beach and getting their first victim. Snorky can speak English, and he says dolphins lived on the land until humans drove them onto the sea, where they suffered for millions of years. They tried to return to land with little success. After a fight, the dolphins decide to drive the humans to the sea.

Yep, they might actually go for it. Probably not with you, however...

How did this thread devolve from being about the future of humanity and communicating with intelligence to sex with animals so fast?

Ewwwwwww.... ;) :p

BTW, you will find that most animals that have sex for fun, tend to be some of the most intelligent. Just a little tidbit that I think only ATOTers would appreciate. ;) (I guess it spurs from the fact that intelligent animals tend to be able to go above just animal behavior)

It is an important and popular fact that things are not always as they seem. For instance, on the planet Earth, Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much: the wheel, New York, wars, and so on. But conversely, the dolphins believed themselves to be more intelligent than Man for precisely the same reasons.

Indeed, dolphins are a pretty interesting species. The fact that they catch on so quick is amazing.

Now, if only the same intelligence could be adopted by the Midwest....
