I ran Fear Extraction Point demo at 12x9 MAX no SS no AA 16x AF, ran fine except few hiccups while opening doors which are common only to my machine.
FPS were good, averaging sometimes even 80 or more. Then I turned on SS, damn, 30s FPS.
This is really bad. Even at these settings no card or almost no card can run Fear Extraction Point with SS.

ppl max out games like Oblivion even at 19x12 or 16x12 with a 1900xtx, but with Fear, you really get it.

Is it still the most stressful game, other than Flight Sim X, that is?

Well if it uses the same engine as the old fear then my comp should have no trouble handling it.

(FEAR has the best engine for SLI :))

I thought Monolith got rid of SS via patch? I played the game with version 1.4 and enabling/disabling SS didn't change the FPS by 1. I'm talking about the original not the expansion.

In most reviews and benchmarks i've seen, this is one of the only games that nearly doubles in performance with SLi.
Extraction Point was a little heavier on the CPU and graphics, at least from what i've heard. Turning physics down to medium improved performance by about 10%. That kinda freaks me out... cause if it's more CPU heavy i'm not as well off with my Pentium D 820.

I don't think Fear Extraction Point is CPU intensive enough to give AMD 64 3500/3800 speeds a run for their money. In fact at most a 2.2GH should do, and maybe even 1.8GHz will do. You don't need to reduce the physics. 10% is not a very big difference, I get good enough FPS where 10% doesn't matter me that much.

However with SS, both my FPS and performance become untolerable with Extraction Point.

D820 shouldn't be that bad, especially once overclocked.

I'm certain that Extraction Point is harder to run than F.E.A.R. and it may still need to be optimized via a patch despite the fact that the graphics engine is the same. I got down as low as 12 fps in the shootout in the church in the game's first level. Granted that's at 1920x1200 with everything maxed and vsync enabled (no soft shadows), but there's no way that's normal.

My average frame rates are in the high 60s with the in-game hardware test, so it's something specific in the levels and effects themselves.
