Edit: Whoops, didn't realize their was a topic with this already. Goddamn search feature isn't working like its supposed to... Well, this'll still be up for those who missed the last one. :)

Xbit has benchmarked FEAR: Extraction Point with several high-end cards, including the 1950XTX and 7950GX2, which ought to add fire to the debate to which card is really better. ;)

One thing is for sure, we're definitely going to need an 8800 if we want to max this game out. :disgust:

No you won't need a 8800 to max this game out. a 1900xt can play it just finet at 12x9 MAX AF no AA no SS with 60FPS avg. A 8800GTS is anyways going to only equal a 1950XTX.

Max is more like 1920x1200 6AAA 16AF

That's below native on most LCD's gamers have. Unacceptable IMO.

^ I seriously doubt that. 8800GTS will be faster than X1950XTX, you can take that to the bank ;) .

This is what the other thread says. It maybe faster but only for Dx 10 games not for Dx 9.

To play the orignal Fear at 1920x1440 6x super AA 16x AF, you need atleast a 7950GX2 or even Quad SLI 7900GT. If you be realistic and expect to play games at 16x12 AA AF or 19x14 no AA but AF, then you may get that, but what you expect is highly unrealistic and there is hardly any game of 2005/2006 that any single card can play at that setting except the 7950GX2.

Gah, Monolith can forget about my money this time round. Why cant they optimize the engine more? It doesnt even look all that great, well the image quality does not compensate for the low frame rates.

as long as you keep your resolution to 12x9 with max settings without AA and SS, there won't be a problem on 7900GTXs or 1900xt/xtx atleast for 512mb versions.
