I setup my 60GB hard drive as so:

8MB Primary *ACTIVE PARTITION*
57GB Extended
-19GB Logical
-19GB Logical
-19GB Logical

Problem:

I only want the 3 19GB partitions to show up as drive letters, ie. C, D, E.

The 8MB partition is shown as C right now. I only want it to be used for boot information, as many people do.....

Am I supposed to set the 8MB partition up as an extended partitition or what? I can't figure it out!

What ever size you make your primary partition, that's gonna be C unless you're able to change the letter label.

I don't know if this will work but if u can install windows on an extended logical drive and then use your primary (C) and other logical drives as the 19 gig drives.

8gigs is an awful lot to act as a boot partition. The max I partition my primary is 2 gigs because windows does not take up much space at all. I don't think fdisk will let you just change the primary partition into an extended so you'll have to delete the partitions and make the partitions again.

Another suggestion is to start the drive letters at B, so your boot drive will be "B" and then the 19 gig partitions will end up being C,D, E like u want.

If all you want is an invisible boot drive and just the extended logical partitions viewable as C,D, and E, I don't know how to hide the primary partition.

lol no you don't understand, I only want the primary partition as 8 MB! The extended logical drives are the only ones holding the operatings systems and data. I was planning on doing this so that if I ever had to reformat my first 19GB partition, which will have Win98 on it, I wont lose the boot information. Having the boot information (ntldr, boot.ini......) on an invisible 8mb partition would be great. I had it once before, but forget wtf I was doing
