Hi, I am having problems trying to FDisk and format my system. I have been advised to do this to give a nice clean disk to install from. I am currently running Windows Me and have the CD and bootup disk. I have so far got to booting up the computer using the disk and at the A: prompt writing FDisk c: and it said wrong version or something i'm not too sure. What am I doing wrong? Is it as Windows Me doesn't use DOS??
Any replies would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

If you can get a hold of an older version disk like win95 or 98 and use that to boot the system.

The version of fdisk has to match the system. You could try the GPL FDisk if you want to get around it, or partition magic. I have the files for GPL FDisk and can't find a URL, you could PM or email me if you want it. Searh would work too.

I would go to bootdisk.com and grab an older boot disk like 98
booting from A: you can skip through all the cd-rom B.S. by hitting Shift+F5
From A: type fdisk
It'll tell you that your HD is larger than 512 (I hope it does. You're a weirdo to install anything higher than 95 on something that small)
So there, type Y
Delete all you partitions with option 3
then use option 1 to re-setup your partitions
If you make more than 1 partition, use option 2 to set the active partition.

Remember - you must format a partition before you can y00se it
