Hello All

Hoping for a little assistance with an FDISK problem. I am attempting to repartition a win98 40 g drive that was previously formatted as 1 large drive. After deleting the existing partition, I attempt to create the new primary partition, and when I choose not to use the entire drive, it tries to perform a drive integrity check and sits at zero percent. Any thoughts, I have never had any issues with fdisk in the past.

Thank you

have you run a thorough scandisk on the drive? it may have one or more bad sectors which need to be flagged..

The bad sector table created during a format or by scandisk would be deleted when the drive is partitioned through fdisk. Try fdisk/mbr and see if it completes also try running the hard drive manufacturers utilities to scan the disk for errors.
