Guys,

After clinging to 98SE for too long, I've made the switch to XP Pro. Yesterday I ran into a snag in moving the contents of my 40GB to a 160GB drive (w/ Ghost 2003). Turns out I should not have done a Quick Format on the HD w/i the XP Pro storage mgmt. section.

So, this whole learning experience begs the question. Do I understand FDISK and Format? Can you FDISK a HD intended for NTFS (w/ a 98SE or ME bootable floppy, w/ the new version of FDISK for drives larger than 64GB) then format it w/i XP Pro?

You can FDISK an hdd for NTFS, but there isn't a need to, because WinXP will take care of it for you upon first install/boot from CD.

u can use fdisk to delete the current partitions, but not create ntfs ones for xp. xp will do that for u in the setup.

If you want to install xp on FAT32, you can use fdisk btw.....
