doesn't it come from premiums paid from member banks? I remember a big stink a while back about the FDIC wanting to raise premiums and the smaller banks said they didn't cause the trouble and couldn't afford it.

Yep, that is the main source, along with interest on government securities.

The cookie is yours. :)

1.While FDIC funds come first from member banks, of course that adds to their overhead which costs consumers (a valid version of a similar fallacy I recently pointed out).

2. While FDIC funds have been supplied by member banks, the FDIC under law has the right to get unlimited funds, in effect, from the US Treasury if needed.

3. The head of the FDIC has said (in a 60 Minutes interview for one place) that she thinks it's very important for 'too big to fail' banks not to be allowed to exist as such. I agree.

Ok OK all you geniuses, answer how you think the FDIC can act in any other way.

Mismanaged banks still imploding because of the lax regulation acts of GWB&co.

Yes I know, it was the fault of the fool depositors who had faith in those banks, let them take the forfeit is the proper GOP answer.

So why bailout the big boys like we did? Why didn't we let them fail , But they were mismanaged and got huge bonus for screwing everthing up . None of these so called highly educated people are fit to do their job . Take your blinders off please.

*psst* The board of directors of the FDIC is appointed by the President, and the present chairwoman of the board, Sheila Bair, was appointed by Bush in 2006.

And if the Democrat majority hadn't spent the last 3 years fucking things up, perhaps the FDIC wouldn't have had to step in.

I just find it amusing that EVERYTHING is Bush's fault. Hardcore Democrats truly have some misfiring neurons. If you changed their rants to say Obama instead of Bush they'd be indistinguishable from Republican wingnuts.

The FDIC did the job it's meant to do... as for the rest of your rant - you contradict yourself....

You're a blind ideologue, among other flaws - I see no liberal here without criticism for Democrats too, you are just blind to the fact, you don't see what they actually say in your delusions.

You are the one who doesn't hold the Republicans, who are far worse than the Democrats for all their faults, accountable nearly enough, so your little delusion about Democrats lets you justify that.

Don't look for Boberfett to make any decent argument for his conclusions, just look for him to fling poop at Democrats.
