FDA Approves Laser to Treat Baldness

WASHINGTON - Drawing this special comb over a balding pate could restore some real hair _ according to a Florida company. The Food and Drug Administration has cleared for sale a handheld laser device to promote hair growth.

Called the Hairmax Lasercomb, it increases the numbers of thick hairs on the scalp, according to 26-week clinical trials conducted by its manufacturer, Lexington International LLC.

As the device's name suggests, it combines a low-level laser with a comb. When drawn through the hair, the laser strikes the scalp to promote hair growth, according to the company.

The device, sold on the Web for $545, is the only drug-free product meant for home use in combatting hair loss that's won the endorsement of the FDA, the company said.

You're just teasing. Don't do me that way.

Imagine if the funds used to research cures to bullsh|t medical problems like this were redirected toward cancer, diabetes, AIDS and other real problems. Good lord. We can't cure lung cancer but we can invent a laser comb that cures male pattern baldness. :disgust:

I read "bald men" then "don't do me that way", and the first thing I thought of was that video of the bald guy and the girl... uh nevermind. 😱

Its this type of stuff that does help with other cures. Its like saying had we never built Nasa, we could have redirected funds towards technologies like wireless cell phones, viscofoam mattresses, ceramic plating, etc. Besides, its not your money or the government's money to decides where it all goes. That comb was invented for consumers. Stop your communistic whining. 😛

I've been using one for 16 months. My concern was keeping the hair that I have and not necessarily growing new. Does it work? I think it does. 😕
They're 475.00 if you buy direct from the manufacture on Ebay. That's where I got mine.

Gawd forbid someone try to make some money!

Yes, folks, we should stop any and all unnecessary actions and all work like worker bees to find cures for cancer.

Welcome to the real world, Whoozyerdaddy.

Can you imagine the prank potential of having one of these things???

your buddy passes out drunk and you and your friends use this on his palms.....good sh1t!!!! 😀

they invented a frickin comb with frickin lasers attached to it?
It's been around for 6-7 years. I bought mine in 2005 after a 20/20 type program did a 6 month review of hair restoration products. It definately worked on that test subject.

name of product???

me need one bad, so you keep the hairs you have? does it burn anything
I think it's working. My wife isn't so sure. The lasers definately do make your scalp a little tender and it sometimes does make your scalp have small pimples. I use mine every other day for 15 mins.

Lasers can work on more than just hair regrow. Laser light helps the body regenerate tissue. It helps reduce scar tissue and such.

Yes, it's a pity that we don't limit all technological advances solely towards treating one medical problem instead of allowing different researchers to choose to research and treat other things

I'm 20 and already accepted that I might go bald.

Don't need a comb with a laser...

...unless I can get one for free. 😉

Bravo! I couldn't agree more. I'm in no way balding...but technology used in one application often times finds uses in other applications.

I would rather be bald then spend an hour a week combing my hair.
